FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
Are
LED lights difficult to install?
Absolutely
not. If you've ever accessed your bike's battery you can install LED
lights.
Where
do the accent lights go on the bike?
Ah
ha! We've got you covered. We have a brand
new DVD video packed with info and tips as well as a complete
bike build. It'll show you exactly where your new lights should
go and how to install the kit.
Can
you install them for me - I'm based near to you.
We
used to but as of October 2010 we have temporarily ceased doing customer
installs.
Who
makes your lights?
Our
original lights were manufactured by Swint Led Lights
based in Sturgis. We are working with a new lights provider and should
have info posted soon.
The
tutorial DVD shows ten colors but it seems I can only buy eight now -
what happened?
Swint
Led Lights decided to cease production on the less popular colors.
Are
these sort of motorcycle accent lighting legal in the US?
It
depends on your state and you should definitely check your local laws
before riding on public roads with your LED accent lights on. Each kit
that we sell comes with a dedicated switch to enable you to disable
the lights if you're in an area where the laws are stricter or you're
unsure of the legal standing.
In
PA, where we are based, all bike accent lighting is legal
regardless of color or type - refer to
HB 901 signed by Gov Rendell for the press release, the actual
Bill can be obtained
here. Some law enforcement may not be aware of the new law so
print it out and carry it with you if you're concerned.
In
Maryland the
lights are legal with the exception of blue and red (pdf).
We
feel that as bikers we need all the conspicuousness that we can get,
especially at night, so if your state prohibits such lighting then contact
your local ABATE chapter and do something!
I
need something answered that's not covered here.
